Chapter 22
Sparse words accord with the natural way. Thus, a whirlwind does not last the whole morning, and a sudden rainstorm does not last the whole day.
Who brings about these things?
Heaven and Earth.
If even Heaven and Earth cannot sustain these indefinitely, how much less can a mere human?
Therefore, those who engage in practice through the Way: those aligned with the Way become one with the Way; those aligned with Virtue become one with Virtue; those aligned with Loss become one with Loss.
Those who become one with the Way, the Way also joyfully receives them; those who become one with Virtue, Virtue also joyfully receives them; those who become one with Loss, Loss also joyfully receives them.
When trust is insufficient, how could there not be distrust?
