Chapter 23
IndexThose who stand on tiptoe do not stand firm; those who stride cannot travel far; those who display themselves are not enlightened; those who assert themselves are not distinguished; those who boast of themselves have no merit; those who are self-important do not endure.
In the way of Dao, this is called: 'excess food and superfluous action.'
Things may detest this, thus those who possess the Dao do not dwell in it.
