Chapter 20
The appearance of profound virtue follows only the Way.
The Dao as a thing is only vague, only obscure.
Obscure and vague - within it there is form; vague and obscure - within it there is substance.
Profound and dark - within it there is essence; this essence is utterly real - within it there is reliability.
From antiquity to the present, its name has not departed - through it we may survey the origins of all things.
How do I know the nature of the origins of all things?
