Chapter 69
My words are very easy to understand and very easy to put into practice.
Yet no one in the world is able to understand them, no one is able to put them into practice.
My words have an ancestral source; my actions have a sovereign principle.
It is precisely because they lack this knowing that they do not understand me.
Those who understand me are rare; those who emulate me are precious.
Thus the sage wears coarse cloth yet harbors jade within.
